I follow several Tumblr art blogs (the author of one of them is currently attending an Illustration Master Class being taught by Boris Vallejo and Donato Giancola!) And one of them reblogged some artwork by Swedish artist and illustrator Mattias Adolfsson, which I found interesting enough to add his Tumblr blog to those I follow.
This was the piece he submitted to an exhibition entitled “All Together Now: A Tribute to the Beatles“ being held in July at the Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, California. (See how many Beatles references you can find in the picture.)
About this work, Adolfsson writes, “The Beatles have always played a great part of my life. I’m not sure how many times me and my sister saw the film Help as children, a good part of the references come from that film (even though I think the tiger in the film had a different color scheme).”
Adolfsson’s work is incredibly intricate and detailed, but it is also wry and witty.
